Planning a Post-Graveside Ceremony Reception

It’s customary for loved ones to share a meal after the graveside ceremony at the cemetery. However, the details are quite flexible. This reception can be as informal or formal as you wish. You may wish to invite everyone who attended the ceremony at the cemetery, or just the family and closest friends. Use this helpful checklist as a general planning guide.

Choose the venue.

If you’re sharing a meal with loved ones and friends, you might wish to consider one of Inglewood Park Cemetery’s venues for hosting a repast or reception. Whether 15 or 150 guests, we can accommodate your gathering. We have screened recommended local caterers, can provide linens, and encourage you to take advantage of the convenience of celebrating the life of your deceased loved one without the hassle of traveling to another site for your event. The Inglewood Park Flower Shop can provide beautiful centerpieces if desired, and you have numerous other options available to make your reception a memorable one.

Contact the caterer.

Choose from our list of recommended caterers and arrange to have them serve your guests on the specified date. You will select the foods and beverages you wish to have served from their menu. You may wish to include a dish that the decedent was particularly fond of. Our experienced coordinator will reach out to your caterer to finalize the details and ensure that everything is set up and ready for your party when they arrive.

Provide directions.

Often, the funeral director will announce your reception for you, but if you aren’t inviting all of the mourners to the reception, you should contact those who will be invited individually to let them know their presence will be welcome. When you host your reception at Inglewood Park Cemetery, giving directions is simplified and traffic is all but eliminated.
